Nothing like having family. Beautiful video!
My “dark black” brother, father & grandparents dna results were “people living throughout Europe”. This is from African Ancestry! I called them up and was told that the dna they trace is BEFORE the slave trade. Do you think I was ripped off?
That lady at 1:25 is incorrect. AA are NOT the onl ones who DON’T KNOW their roots. Latinos are the same thing, in fact, they are MORE mixed up than are we. She should get it straight before playing the victim spokesperson for all us AA. We are not the only ones with slavery and colonization in our past.
There is a project already for latino.
I never took this DNA test because I knew my mother’s mother’s side was not African. But I am going to use it for my father.
You can be NEGATIVE about what I am saying, but it is the truth. AA seem to have it stuck in their head (cause I am conscious of other people) that we are the only ones who “don’t know”. So, you can hit “thumb down” out of your ignorance, just don’t forget that once you leave YT that same ignorance which does not allow you to GIVE PROPS to others will ALWAYS FOLLOW YOU AROUND. I am not bothered.
I do not know what you are complaining about. Family tree DNA have projects for latinos but have none for black Americans. What they are doing at African Ancestry is a God send. This is the only place blacks can go to find their heritage. If you are Latino and do this it will tell you your heritage but to find out more you would take your results to Family tree DNA and match them up with others.
My maternal side was not from Africa so I did my test with Family tree DNA but my paternal side I am about to do with African Ancestry because I feel it might be from Africa.
She told the truth. Latinos can point to a country of origin. Oftentimes they are mixed with whoever “discovered” them being the Spanish English etc., whatever natives were there at the time and depending on the proliferation of slavery in their area, the black slaves. The native part is pretty simple, the European part CAN be simple, but if they’re of African ancestry it’s going to be a big blank.
I guess you are Latino and can say that. 3 of my friends did this thing. They had a hard time pinpointing where their origins are. “Indians” aren’t in one specific place and had no written information. Don’t bet on the fact that we are the only ones who can’t figure it out. It’s still erroneous to say that and makes it look like we’re victims again. Spanish killed more “Indians” than Africans and the majority of Blacks in the Diaspora are Latinos, not us. So I don’t buy that.
I am Jamaican. I am not saying whether or not a project exists for whomever. I am saying that we should be more conscious of what we are saying in regards to some other culture of people being more informed about themselves than us. It’s not true. I am trying to tell you my friends had a hard time doing the research. It’s difficult because Spain was hard pressed to rid people of their history also. Sorry if I came out too harsh there. I keep hearing this over & over and it’s pretty vain of us.
We shouldn’t have to pay for a test when our history was taken from us… These test should be free of charge for so-called African Americans…
