A family tree, such as a school project? hmm… Most WIndows Vista computers have Microsoft Office installed. Like Word, Power Point, ect… Your best bet is to use Microsoft Word if you have it. There is so many layouts in that program, it helped me over the years.
If you want some real nice free stuff, look at ‘Scrapbook Flair’
Make all kinds of great photo albums, with text, pic frames, tons of effects.
Make the album just like you want, then for each page you’ve made, do a ‘print screen’> save into a folder> crop away the non-page stuff> re-save.
Now you have items you can view, save to disk, put in a slideshow for off line viewing, printing; almost anything.
And you can have free webspace to show the album, to friends (private viewing) or the public…all free.
No pop-up ads, spyware, junk, etc.
Very easy to use.

My dad uses and older version of this. It works great.
Windows Vista is simply the operating system your computer is running. It does NOT have any built-in software to help you create a family tree. That would be outside software you would need to purchase and then install.
(Also, Jack Sparrow is incorrect. Most Windows Vistas do NOT have Office installed. Office is a separate program that would need to be purchased.)
