A research binder is a binder (or notebook or file folder) where you keep all of your how-to articles, favorite blogs, reference information about locations and time periods you are researching, research guides, anything that can be helpful when doing your genealogy. The purpose of having it all in a binder is to keep it all organized and easily accesible. There are various ways to organize the binder. Some people prefer page protectors while others just hole punch the pages. Some people prefer big dividers while others don’t mind making the dividers themselves from any sturdy paper they have around the house. How you organize your materials is up to you and the patterns of categories that you notice. The categories you have will be based on your needs. Finally, I wanted to give you guys some websites to get you started on your research binder: 1.) www.cyndislist.com - I’ve recommended this site before and that is because I LOVE it. You can find articles and information on nearly any topic if it has anything to do with genealogy. 2.) www.archives.gov - I havent fully been through everything on this site, but I am already finding it very useful. So take a look around it and see if you can find anything you like. 3.) genealogy.about.com - This is an incredibly valuable website. I love Kimberly Powell and I love …

This is because it is filmed at my dad’s, who only has the regular Sims. It’s good for people who don’t have any expansion packs, because it gives you the basics on how to build a family tree!
